A poll commissioned by the Detroit Regional Chamber shows that 85.9 percent of Michigan Republicans have a favorable view of President Donald Trump, while 9.1 percent have an unfavorable one. Another 4.4 percent offered no opinion.

The poll comes at a turbulent time in the country, with the U.S. at a stalemate in the Iran war and consumer prices rising, including gas and food.

The poll, conducted by the Glengariff Group between April 21–24, included 500 Michigan Republicans likely to vote in the August primary. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

The poll found that 31.3 percent of voters identify as MAGA Republicans, while another 58.4 percent identify as more traditional Republicans.

In a breakdown of the overall favorable numbers, the poll found that 100 percent of MAGA Republicans view Trump favorably, while 79 percent of traditional Republicans see him favorably. Another 13.9 percent view him unfavorably.

In an age breakdown, younger Republicans had a more unfavorable view of Trump than older party members.

For example, Republicans ages 18–39 had a 65.5 percent favorable view of the president, compared to 24.1 percent unfavorable. Another 10.3 percent offered no opinion.

That compares to the 65-plus group, which had an 89.7 percent favorable view of Trump and a 7.9 percent unfavorable rating. Another 1.7 percent had no opinion.

In response to an open-ended question about the most important issue facing Michigan, 25.2 percent cited the economy or inflation, while 13.5 percent named the economy and jobs, and 11.7 percent said inflation and costs. At the lower end, 4.4 percent listed immigration and border security.

When given the names of four possible GOP presidential candidates for 2028, the poll found:

JD Vance: 52.5 percent
Marco Rubio: 26.7 percent
Ron DeSantis: 7.9 percent
Donald Trump Jr.: 2.9 percent
Undecided: 9.3 percent
Other: 0.8 percent
